卡尔·马兰提斯（Karl Marlantes）
毕业于美国耶鲁大学，曾获得牛津大学罗德奖学金。虽然有常青藤名校背景，年轻的马兰提斯却志愿成为一名预备役军官，随后参加了越南战争。在战争期间，他被授予了海军十字勋章、铜星奖章、2枚海军荣誉勋章、2枚紫心勋章，以及10枚空军奖章。
